Classical Studies: Greco-Roman Myths

Theocritus Idyll 2

During my Greco-Roman Myths class at University of Houston, one poem stood out to me so much that I decided to animate it. The video below is my take on “Theocritus Idyll 2.” Taking Dr. James Houlihan’s translation of the poem, I created an animation portraying both the events of the poem, as well as my understanding and analysis of the main character, Simaitha.

Most assets, animations, and sounds created by me, except for: “Theocritus Idyll 2” translation, male voice, bird sounds, travertine background, Hecate still, and moon still. Credit given at the end of the video. Programs used: Autodesk 3ds Max, Audacity, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Premiere Pro, and VEGAS Pro.
